The solid part remains on the core side of the mold, and it is rotated 180 degrees. When the molds close, the part is placed in a larger cavity designed for the overmold shape. A second shot is injected over or around the sold part, which creates a tight bond between the two materials. Simultaneously, a first shot is injected into the other cavity, repeating the process.
